We apologise for the short notice but it has been an extreme and unpredictable year for arable farming. The recent heatwave has meant the maize crop has matured suddenly and farmers are starting harvest up to 8 weeks earlier than usual.
As a result, maize harvest and delivery to site will start on Saturday 23rd August and run on and off for the next 2-3 weeks. Normally this would be a shorter period but there is such a high degree of variability in crop readiness that while some field were ready last week, some won’t be “fit” for a fortnight or more. We are predicting a total harvest into site of around 5 to 6,000 tonnes delivered in 16 tonne loads on tractor/ trailer.
Each tractor and trailer will, as usual for harvest, be badged with the magnetic badges that identify our contractors.
If you witness anything that concerns you or if you have questions about the project you can review our FAQs here or contact us via a webform or phone number here.
